It’s Wednesday night, 10 to 10pm, and I’m hoping these are the last days of the Howard government. I’ll be handing out for the Greens on Saturday morning at the West Bathurst Public School. Peter Andren is dead, the old seat of Calare has been redrawn and we’re likely to end up with either the Liberals’ Kerry Bartlett or Labor’s Bob Debus. Bob Debus and three or four of his supporters came to the local Walk Against Warming (organised by the Bathurst Community Climate Action Network) the other day. He’s just a politician. He didn’t expect the motley little group before him to put a 1 in the box beside his name. He asked only for a “meaningful preference”.
